About a month ago, I went to climb up a hill, which a friend mentioned to me a while ago. You park at the end of the Glen Nevis road, and walk through the gorge. Come to a rope bridge and hut, then follow path going up. I got to the top of the path, I wasn't really equipped properly, so I saw the top of hill, but since it was to cold and windy I would not go over, as I was not properly dressed, and returned back. It took me an hour and a half to reach the top, so rough guess of how long the circle would take me.
A week later, 3 weeks ago, I decided to do the circle. Climbed up, reached the part I left last time and got to the top. Gasp!!! I couldn't believe what I saw. It wasn't the top at all. A few bigger hills right in front. My mouth dropped. Well, as I say, I have started so I will finish. I didn't have a rucksack with me, but decided to carry on. I noticed 2 guys in front, which I felt a bit uneasy, not sure but they may have thought I was following, looked back a few times at me, maybe they don't think women can climb alone. I was following the path, but on right there was a path going over to Stob Ban, but no start path to it. So I just kept climbing up.
I nearly cried because part of the path was rock climbing, dogs managed it, except one part which I had to lift them up. I finally reached the top and you wouldn't believe the view I saw. Kinlochleven black water reservoir, road to Kinlochleven, Ballachulish, Glencoe, and North Ballachulish, it was amazing. I waited for the 2 guys to get well in front, so they could think no more.
I got the small loch next to Stob Ban, I just took clothes off and jumped in, few seconds, it was bloody cold. No one was about. I was sweaty, dirty, dying of thirst and sore. On the way down my knee was hurting and also my back.
I met a lovely lady at the bottom, and a very friendly small girl, 7 years old I think, from Glasgow!!! I was surprised she was so cute and funny. Took photo, but I forgot to ask them if I can put it on website. Oh well?. Oh, and it was a week after Coire a Cheercaill, and I bought rechargeable batteries, and I took both pairs.
Altogether there are well over 200 photos. Here is where I walked. An Gearanach 982, Garbhanach 975, Stob Coire a Chairn 981, Am Bodach 1032, Sgorr an Lubhair 1001, then worked down the path next to StobBan. 8 hrs and 12 minutes, and I had to walk back up to the Glen Nevis Car Park. I was shattered. So were the dogs..
