Well, I finally bought a digital camera, it should take good pictures,so I was told. Brilliant, I go for next walk, see how it goes.
So off I went, my plan actually was, to go on the hill other side of water,which has a mask sitting on top, called Meall an t-Slamain, 467. Only hill that was not covered with clouds, be a bit safer. Remembered this path going up a hill, which was across from Locheil.
Whilst starting the walk, and what did I forget, not camera but map. It surprised me, In ever forgot camera as well. Never mind, I am not going all the way back. Took pictures going up, and when I reached the top, couldn't believe it. The hill with the mask was the next hill across, so to get there I had to go back down and then up again. That's what happens when you forget map. Ouch! No way!!!! On my right you can see a higher hill,and as I say, when I am up, I am up, no way am I going down. Whilst going up, I noticed block of stones, which people pile on to tell everyone they have been here, not keen on it at all. So it was obvious others have been here, there must be a peak somewhere here then. I don't usually like the stone pile thing, but this time they were handy. When I got to one set, right across, I could not believe what I saw.
It was the mountain which sits behind the hill with the mask on the left side, and connects to the other hill next door. Been planning to walk up that for years, you can see it so clearly from my house, I was so pleased. Nearly there! Took another photograph, then all of a sudden the camera kept switching off, Keep Calm!!!! Keep Calm!!!!B*********!!!!! Typical, bloody typical, near to top and camera decides to not work. So I took batteries out back in, few times, it worked once or twice then switched off. So I through batteries on the rocks and stamped on them, :mad: it didn't help, but it made me feel a lot better. I Got to the top and then it started to work again, I took four pictures. Brilliant, yes!! Yes!!! Then the camera switched itself off again. Technology, new fashion technology, why bother, had no hassle with my old camera and the video recorder, why bother I don't know.
I walked up was Braigh bhlaich, 609, and reached the top of Stob Coirea Chearcaill, 770. I was so chuffed. I have decided for the future to camp on the hill below, and finish on the the other side and then get ferry back across. Reason for the camera was, even though the batteries were new, digital cameras use a lot of power. The batteries were going dead, ordinary batteries don't last long and what I needed was rechargeable ones. Well, nobody told me this before I went, well! Did anybody? No!!! of course not, great!!! Eh!!! Why the company enclose poxy batteries when the camera doesn't even last any more than ten pictures. All the way up there, and no camera, no new batteries, and if someone even asks in this squeaky voice 'did you not read the instructions first?'
Well, I don't know anyone who reads all instructions, or the book, when they get the item. Or maybe it is just me, who presses few buttons and hopes for the best.
