I walked up a path between Ben Nevis and Carn Beag/Dearg,Meadhonach, the map has a path meeting up the top, which I should have seen the Mountain Rescue post. Got to the end of path, never seen a hut, I was running out of time, so I had to return back. On Thursday, 17th April 2007, I walked on the same path, then noticed a path going up Carn Beag Dearg, so my aim was to reach the top of that. The path went round the side, and I ended on top of Carn Mor Dearg 1220, not sure whether to follow path down, but my real aim was to sit at the top of the triangle mountain which you see next to Ben Nevis, facing North West. So I walked across Carn Dearg Meadhonach 1179, then Carn Beag Dearg 1010. It took me 7 hours, to complete the walk. It was a beautiful view at the top of Carn Mor Dearg, and I saw the Mountain Rescue hut at the bottom, which I missed few days before, saw the loch at the bottom of Ben Nevis, the view was amazing, until I looked over the other side. My face went white, I nearly panicked, I did not think I was that high until I looked down on the other side. I am not to keen on cliffs, sorry, but heights and cliffs is a definite not me. I phoned 2 friends when I finished the path at the top, to find out if there was a path across going to Carn Beag Dearg, or was I going out of my depth. They did not know, and they did not know the Mountain Climbing Club number, so I thought the Police Station might know. Police now there's an issue; The first lady was okay, unusual for police station receptionist, but instead of waiting, I just chanced it, it was all loose stones, bits of path, then disappeared, another bit of path again, but disappeared, bit scary. I phoned back just to let them it didn't matter, but I got the receptionist whose brain is always in 1st gear, what a waste of minutes on my mobile. I just hope if I ever get attacked by any of my fans, I pray it ain't going to be in Fort William. I can imagine whilst getting attacked the receptionist replies "Please speak slowly and clearly", very patronising. I thought if you have to answer police calls, even, 999 calls, your brain needs to be in a higher gear than lst, it might help. I never had any problem with the city police stations, but as they say, small town, everyone knows everyone, very churchy people, and I don't think 1st gear receptionist likes me, even thought I don't know her from Adam or Eve. Och! I am so heartbroken, wonder what is wrong with her. Maybe her partner was eyeing me up or something. She don't need to threat, puts you off when you know where they've been.
Strange, I seem to understand all accents, speed of any talker, I must be either over intelligent, or my brain is in a higher gear, or maybe I am just not a lazy listener. One person, kept been patronising years ago, so my friend J Kennedy, Glasgow, told me to insult him best possible way, in the faster speech you got, and I bet he'll understand that, and he did. People just hear what they want to hear. I think our receptionist in our local Police Station is similar, seem to think they are so superior, when all they are is a Secretary, not exactly an intellectual job, is it?
